Award Opportunity for Student Directors!
In May 2004, The Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers
(SSD&C) unanimously approved a proposal to create an award for
KCACTF student directors. Directors of plays in the 10-Minute Play
Festival are eligible for this award.
The SSD&C will award SSD&C Associate membership plus one
year of dues to each of the regions' student directors being sent
to the Kennedy Center for the National KCACTF Festival.
One of the eight student directors, representing the eight regions,
will be awarded a $1000 SSD&C Scholarship to attend The Collaborative
Process Summer Intensive with Ming Cho Lee and Constance Hoffman
as a director-in-residence. This scholarship will be matched by
the national KCACTF office by a full tuition waiver for the SSD&C
Scholarship Recipient.
The award will go into place during the 2005 regional festivals
Each region will continue to select their own student director,
but it is recommended and requested that -- whenever possible --
a member of SSD&C is involved in the process, and -- whenever
possible -- an SSD&C member is invited to the Festival as a
guest artist.
