10 Minute Play Festival Opportunities Exist for Playwrights, Student Stage Managers, Student Directors and Faculty Mentors
Barbizon National Design Competition Competition for Students who designed either an Associate or Participating KCACTF Entry
Critics Competition Students write reviews of the Festival productions. In a series of intensive workshops, student critics will discuss strategies for improvement.
Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions Student Actors whose work was nominated compete for scholarships and awards in a variety of categories
LMDA/KCACTF Student Dramaturgy Award The LMDA/KCACTF Student Dramaturgy Award is designed to recognize contributions by student dramaturgs to the conception, development and production of theater
Mehron Makeup Design Competition Any student makeup designer for a KCACTF participating or associate production may enter the National Awards for Excellence in Makeup Design
Michael Kanin National Playwriting Competition The distinguished playwright and screenwriter Michael Kanin (1910-1993) arranged for a remarkable series of awards to be given to student writers whose plays are produced as part of the festival.
One Act Play Competition An opportunity for young writers to present their work in a supportive environment for feedback and possilbe performance
Regional Design Project Competition Design Projects are intended to serve Region III student designers with the opportunity to showcase their work for non-realized paper projects in the areas of scenic design, costume designs, lighting design and makeup design
Sound Design Competition Any student sound designer for a KCACTF participating or associate production may enter the KCACTF Award for Sound Design Excellence.
SSD&C Directors Award In May 2004, The Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers (SSD&C) unanimously approved a proposal to create an award for KCACTF student directors.
Stage Management Competition Any Stage Manager of a department active in KCACTF may enter the Regional Stage Management Competition. The student must have Stage Managed one production from the previous year
Theatre Crafts and Technology Exposition The Theatre Crafts & Technology Expo is a regional exposition to display excellent work in crafts and technical areas. The Craft &Tech Expo is a great way to display and share creative solutions to production problems and challenges.
