Open Jar Institute Scholarship Auditions

Updated December 1, 2015

Open Jar Institute is a musical theatre actors training program in NYC. They offer a selective college intensive each summer in NYC where students have the opportunity to connect with the Broadway community. Students spend one week working one on one with Broadway directors, casting directors, choreographers, actors and agents.

Each night students go to a Broadway show, participate in talkbacks with the cast and and also have backstage opportunities. It is truly an incredible experience for the serious musical theater student.

Representatives of the program will be at Region III to audition students for admission to the summer institute and also to provide scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $600. This scholarship will be awarded to one of the students at Region III during the closing ceremony of the festival. Each of KCATCF regional scholarship recipients will then become a finalist for the national KCATCF award: a full tuition scholarship which includes all classes, meals, tickets to 4 Broadway shows, air fare and hotel (a value of $2,600).

In addition, Open Jar Institute will be conducting workshops on January on January 6, 7 & 8. See workshop schedule for times for Open Jar Institute workshops. Auditions will be January 9. Check the schedule for additional information. Auditionees should come prepared to dance first and then sing.
