Below are answers to frequently asked questions. All other Design, Technology, and Management related questions can be directed to the DTM Co-Chairs and/or DTM Co-Vice Chairs. The full list of Region 3 leadership can be found on the Region 3 Leadership page.
If my name is already listed on the ACTF Participating Production Registration Form, do I still need to complete a separate entry form to present my design, technology, or management exhibit at the DTM Expo?
Yes. Even if your name appears on the Participating Production Registration Form, you must still submit a DTM Expo entry form. We ask all DTM Expo participants, regardless of category, to complete an entry form so we can confirm participation and ensure adequate exhibit space and resources are available at the Festival Conference.
Do I have to pay an entry fee for any of the Design, Technology, and Management events?
No. All participation is covered by your Festival Conference registration fee.
Am I permitted to use a dress form or other three dimensional objects in my display?
Dimensional pieces are only allowed for entries in the Allied Design and Technology category. In the DTM Expo: Design exhibits, the view of other panels and the walkways between panels must not be obstructed in any way.
Scenic design models in ⅛" or ¼"
It is suggested that designers provide their own simple devices for mounting models to the polystyrene display walls. Integrated shelves for models or pockets to hold notebooks or bibles onto the panels will be allowed, so long as they remain structural and not decorative. When available, music stands will be provided for these items.
If you bring a ½" scale model or other three - dimensional piece, you may be asked to display the piece in a location away from your panel, this could include large puppets.
Can I bring my own 4' x 8' panel to put my display on?
No, you must use the panels provided to maintain uniformity and equity in the DTM EXPO.
Since I must use the panels provided, can I cover the panel with fabric?
No, panels should not be covered with fabric, wallpaper, plastic, or any material other than your work.
Do I have to attend the Festival Conference to display my work?
No. You must inform the DTM Chairs prior to the Festival Conference, including the name and contact information for the person from your school who will be in charge of the set up, maintenance, and strike of your materials. There must be a representative from your school who will attend the Response session for you. If this person is different from the person bringing your materials, the DTM Chairs need their name and contact information as well.
Be advised that designers in national-eligible events must be present for response sessions to be selected to attend the national festival.
If my Design Project does not make it to the final round of responses, can I take it down?
No. Even though your design did not make it to the final round, DTM Expo exhibits must be displayed for the entire duration of the Festival Conference. There are faculty/staff respondents preparing written critiques that will be sent to you shortly after the Festival Conference to give you additional feedback on your design.
I registered myself to attend the Region 3 Festival Conference, and checked a box saying I was participating in a Design, Technology, and Management event. Is that all I need to do?
No. You should have received an automated response telling you that you also need to complete a Design, Technology & Management Registration Form. The DTM form gives us the specifics of your project so that we can plan the EXPO exhibit space and schedule response sessions. If you didn't get an automated reminder, or if your school completed your Festival Conference registration for you, please also submit a DTM Registration on the DTM Registration page.
